Powers: Charlie has the ability to amplify a person's current emotions. For example, he could amplify feelings of happiness to ecstasy, sadness to suicidal thoughts, even to the point of overloading them so they can't think (e.g. sexual pleasure so powerful they are immobilized). He can't change one emotion into another (happy to sad, sad to angry, angry to fear, etc.), or suppress emotions completely. However, he can influence a person's emotions to his advantage and turn his enemies against each other during crucial moments in battle. Charlie could potentially make his enemies suicidal, or extremely scared, causing them to turn on themselves or flee. Something important to note is that Charlie cannot change his own emotions. However, he's highly resistant to empathy and other powers based on sensing, manipulating or using emotions.
At first, this power will be quite weak, and when applied clumsily or with great force, the shifts in emotions will be sudden and erratic, clearly artificial. Others will be able to tell he is manipulating them and fight it. After sufficient "practice", they will be harder to detect and even prone to lingering outside of battle.
Amplifying emotions will sap a lot of Charlie's own emotional stability and energy. Eventually, he'll be able to absorb energy from emotions, which sometimes relieves people of theirs, and become stronger in the presence of intense emotion. While being able to ease the pain of others is a good thing, depending on what Charlie's feeling at the time he may become stronger only in the presence of a certain emotion, such as love, doubt, anger, bravery, etc. In these situations, the temptation to manipulate others into feeling these emotions will be very powerful. This has the potential to be pretty harmful and irritating to Charlie's teammates. Also, when Charlie is feeling emo or pining after someone - as he's prone to doing - his power may "leak". In other words, he may tamper with their emotions unwittingly to suit his own needs. This lack of control, combined with his co-dependent personality, will definitely influence his relationships in the game a great deal.
